New World Symphony

24.06.2008
Between the years 1892 and 1895 the famous Czech composer Antonin Dvorak worked in New York, where he wrote his most beautiful 9th symphony, called the "Symphony From the New World" (listen here if you like). Although, as far as we know, Asia has a richer historical and cultural background than America, today it also appears to be some kind of a new world, which gradually emerged during the last decades. And it seems to me, that the different contacts, messages, and activities in Cambodia during the last year slowly merge into a stream of sounds and start to become a harmonic symphony...
This morning, T and me managed to establish our first direct contact via Skype, just one of the many steps that have become necessary during the last weeks and months. We are both constantly learning. At the end of this year - most likely in October - I will go to Siem Reap for some weeks and we will reorganize the "Garden Shuttle". This is going to be a major job, but somehow, we have already crossed the "Rubicon" together, like Julius Ceasar 2000 years ago. We have been talking and trying and discussing for so long, that by now the time has come to take another chance. For me it feels good and I think that T is also looking forward to get started...

Due to the contemporary worldwide financial and economic crisis, it may sound like a strange idea, to start a business in Cambodia. But that's the way it is.
On November 7th I will leave for Siem Reap for 6 weeks until December 21st. During this time we will be quite busy preparing the Garden Shuttle vegetable and food delivery service. Reliable connections to local producers are needed, as well as a marketing and communication concept, a financial system with a functional controlling, a new homepage, an office etc. etc.
This project period is now financed until the end of 2009 and I hope that by then we will start writing black numbers or at least see the sun at the end of the horizon. We will see. These days the world seems to be in a dramatic change and in a very inconsiderable way we participate in this process.
